A call to love the orphan is a call to suffer with the orphan.

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead
bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped
about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let
it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go
unwarned and unprayed for.
-Charles Spurgeon

I want to beg you, as much as I can, to be patient toward all that is
unsolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves
like locked rooms and like books that are written in a very foreign
tongue. Do not now seek the answers which cannot be given you because
you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live
everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually,
without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.
Resolve to be always beginning—to be a beginner!
